Can someone elaborate on what just happened here?
Hi, I'm Serathu Ashk, the Editor-in-Chief of the Interstellar Correspondents.
I've just been alerted to this and am currently working to understand what has happened. In the meantime, allow me to be clear in saying that the views expressed in the post do not represent the position of the Interstellar Correspondents.
With regards to the other issues in this thread, I'll respond to those where appropriate in due course.

I want to know who deleted that post and why? I didn't realise ISDs could delete posts and if they couldn't why didn't it just get edited rather than trying to cover up the tracks.
I think the Eve community would be pleased to see the disciplinary progress in the near future. In some sense we could almost interpret that ISD member "Flaming".
I've now had the time to look into this and it seems that what happened was that the reporter intended to make the post using his player character but was still logged in to the website with his IC character and posted with this in error. Upon realising the mistake, he edited the post to remove the content and then CCP Community followed up by deleting the now-blank post.
The reporter is not authorised to post on the forums with his IC character without permission and the views expressed are not those of IC. I apologise for any offense caused and can assure you that appropriate action has been taken in this matter.

I remember when ISD's lost forum powers due to the fact that they were sending out "warning" emails to people to try and link alts to mains and harvest email address's. They were also keeping their own sales threads clean and other threads to protect their own alts when they got caught scamming :P
I remember when some of the same ISD's who were involved in the first two methods of cheating the game started having "news items" put up that reinforced them selling wormholes (LOL?) and verifying that they were worth billions.
I Remember a news item where ISD's linked to a EVE_Hater who had so many comments in his bio about the ****heads and ****y's who work for CCP that it made you wonder if ISD's ever actually look at the people before they link them in news threads...
If you give "Community" people the chance to do anything that can scam/modify views enmasse then they'll give it a go.
The five ISD divisions are now overseen by CCP Internal Affairs in the same way that CCP employees are. If you believe that you have evidence showing an ISD member acting innapropriately, you are encouraged to email [email protected] with the evidence that you have.

Nice to see you screen aplicants well, they are free to troll away as long as they aren't obviously connected to you.
/nthing get rid of ISD
Actually, they're not free to at all. Our conflict of interest rules prevent IC members from getting involved in threads relating to IC and this is being reinforced as a result of what's happened.

Not only that but they also can get the boot simply for not remaining "IN CHARACTER" and "ROLE PLAYING" the part of their ISD alt. Be it on the forums or in-game.
Seeing as most of the forums are handled in an out of character experience, it kind of adds another reason why they can't post as their ISD alt. ;)
Sorry, perhaps wasn't as clear as I could have been there.
IC's conflict of interest rules prevent IC members from getting involved in threads relating to IC as their player characters. Regarding posting on the forums as their IC characters (something I'm doing now), this requires approval from a senior member of IC who will also give instruction as to whether or not the person needs to stay in-character when posting.
In-game, the default is to remain in-character unless instructed otherwise.
I hope that makes things clear!
